Universitas Gadjah Mada (UGM) and Indonesia’s Ministry of Cooperatives and Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) launched Mikro Mandiri 2024 Mentorship Program in Denpasar, November 7, 2024. This initiative aims to enhance Indonesia’s micro-business competitiveness and expand their networks through intensive training and mentorship involving industry experts.
Since its inception in April 2024, 2,578 micro-businesses registered, with 40 selected through rigorous selection. Mentorship focuses on seven key sectors: culinary, fashion, creative economy, home decor, agriculture, plantation, fisheries, and tourism. The two-day event at Hotel Crystal Kuta emphasized business growth, financing access, and marketing.
Bali’s Cooperatives and SMEs Department Head, I Wayan Ekadina, highlighted the importance of government-industry-academia collaboration. Forty micro-businesses from Bali and 20 partners providing financial and marketing support attended.
UGM Science Techno Park supported the program with technology transfer and innovation. Ridha Nurul Azizah stated the program addresses micro-business challenges, particularly marketing (30%) and financing (50%). Mentorship covers product innovation, technology transfer and business expansion.
