2025 Innovation Development Grant: Promoting Research Commercialisation and Pentahelix Collaboration at UGM

Background

Gadjah Mada University, through its Science Techno Park (UGM STP), has once again launched the 2025 Innovation Development Grant (HPI) programme as part of the national PRIME STeP project. This programme is designed to strengthen the national innovation system by supporting research that is ready for commercialisation. With an output-based approach, this grant encourages collaboration between academics, industry, and the community. HPI 2025 also serves as a strategic tool to enhance domestic innovation competitiveness by improving the Technology Readiness Level (TRL).

Purpose

  1. Providing support to UGM researchers who have developed innovations with real implementation potential.
  2. Encouraging pentahelix collaboration between universities, industry, society, and government.
  3. Facilitating the commercialisation of research results to solve real problems in society and industry.
  4. Enhancing UGM’s contribution to national technology and innovation development.

Target

  1. Lecturers at Gadjah Mada University (as team leaders or members) who have NIDN/NIDK.
  2. Focus on three main areas:
    • Health and Pharmacy
    • Agroindustry
    • Engineering and Energy

Skema Outline

  1. Scale-Up Scheme: For innovations at TKT 7 that are targeted to move up to TKT 8. Focus on functional and technical validation in a real operational context.
  2. Preadoption/Market Trial Scheme: For innovations at TKT 8 that are targeted to move up to TKT 9. Focus on fabrication process trials and market validation.

General Requirements for Applicants

  1. Proposals should be a maximum of 10 pages, A4 format, Times New Roman 11 font, single spaced.
  2. Approved by the Dean/Head of the Study Centre.
  3. Submitted via the official Google Form link.
  4. Attachments:
    • TKT measurement form
    • CVs of the chair and team members
    • Statement of not currently pursuing further studies
    • Letter of support from research results users
    • Statement letter confirming that the proposal is not being submitted to other funding sources
    • Proof of intellectual property registration (if applicable)
    • Letter of consent for intellectual property transfer to UGM (if the intellectual property is privately owned)

Expected Outputs

    • Skema Scale-Up:
      • Laporan kenaikan TKT ke level 8 beserta bukti pendukung
      • Dokumen market study dan feasibility study bersama mitra industri
    • Skema Preadoption:
      • Laporan kenaikan TKT ke level 9 beserta bukti pendukung
      • Dokumen business plan dan strategi difusi pasar
    • Luaran opsional: Publikasi ilmiah terkait pengembangan inovasi  

Total Grant Funding

  • Total funds provided: IDR 10,000,000,000.00 (Ten Billion Rupiah)
  • Funds used for:
    • Limited scale production
    • Prototype testing
    • Intellectual property rights registration
    • Product testing costs
    • Activity surveys
    • Non-research team labour costs
