Yogyakarta, August 7, 2025 – The Business Development Directorate of Universitas Gadjah Mada/Science Techno Park (UGM STP) actively promotes the commercialization of research results at the 2025 Indonesian Science, Technology, and Industry Convention (KSTI), which takes place from August 7-9, 2025, at Sasana Budaya Ganesa, Bandung Institute of Technology, Indonesia. Through this participation, UGM is introducing various leading innovations while establishing strategic collaborations with industry and government to accelerate the commercialization of science and technology-based products.
The 2025 Indonesian Science, Technology, and Industry Convention (KSTI), organized by the Ministry of Higher Education, Science, and Technology (Kemendiktisaintek), is the largest annual event serving as a strategic platform for all stakeholders to accelerate the commercialization of national research and innovation outcomes. KSTI 2025, with the theme “Innovation for National Industrial Independence,” is expected to accelerate the transformation of research results into products that are competitive in the global market. The event, attended by more than 10,000 participants, also featured various seminars, workshops, and technological innovation competitions. In this year’s event, UGM STP participated by exhibiting various innovative products through a special booth that showcased leading clusters including defense, food, health, advanced materials, and the results of PRIME STeP development.
During the event, Prof. Konstantin Novoselov, recipient of the 2010 Nobel Prize in Physics, visited the UGM STP security cluster booth to witness firsthand various breakthroughs in the field of defense and security. The main highlight was the Palapa S-01 unmanned aircraft, the work of Prof. Dr. Gesang Nugroho, S.T., M.T., IPM, developed by the Engineering Research and Innovation Center (ERIC) of the UGM Faculty of Engineering. In addition to Palapa S-01, UGM also showcased various breakthroughs in the fields of functional food and advanced materials that are ready for industrial application. UGM STP’s participation in KSTI 2025 is in line with the government’s vision to strengthen the research and innovation ecosystem in the country.
A representative from the Directorate of Business Development (UGM STP) emphasized that UGM’s presence at KSTI 2025 was not only to showcase innovations but also to expand opportunities for collaboration with the industrial sector. One of the products currently undergoing commercialization is the Palapa S-01, an unmanned aerial vehicle that previously caught the attention of Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto. According to an article published in DetikJogja, Prabowo even expressed interest in acquiring this technology.
