On December 10, 2021, a cooperation agreement was signed between Gadjah Mada University, PT Berkah Installation Medika, and PT Astra Component Indonesia. The signing ceremony of the cooperation took place in Bogor, West Java. PT BIM is a national importer and distributor company engaged in the field of Medical Supplies, Equipment and Laboratory Systems. Then PT ASKI is a company engaged in the manufacture of plastic components through the plastic injection process. Each agency agreed to cooperate in several fields for research and development of domestic medical equipment. These fields include Education, Research, Community Service, and Distributing University Innovation Results, as well as other fields according to the agreement. The cooperation will last for the next 3 years in accordance with the existing agreement.
The event also coincided with a visit to the production facilities of PT Astra Component Indonesia (ASKI) and PT Berkah Installation Medika (BIM). The visit was located at PT Astra Component Indonesia. In order to support the government’s program through the Indonesian Ministry of Health regarding the production of domestic medical equipment as part of National Resilience. Several officials also attended the visit and the signing of the cooperation. Among others, the Director General of Pharmacy and Medical Devices of the Republic of Indonesia, drg. Arianti Anaya, MKM. Then the Director of Medical Device Assessment and PKRT, Ir. Sodikin Sadek, M.Kes. Furthermore, the PKRT Product Coordinator and Independent Products were also present, namely Lupi Trilaksono, SF., MM., Apt. Then the Assistant Deputy for Strategic Investment of the Coordinating Ministry for Maritime Affairs and Investment, namely Mr. Bimo Widjayanto, S.E., Ak., MBA., Ph.D. And Prof. Dr. Paripurna, SH., M. Hum., LL. M. as Vice Chancellor for UGM Cooperation.
Currently, the government is continuing to strive for independence in the use of domestic medical equipment. One of the efforts is to issue affirmative policies to increase domestic production of medical devices. This activity is in line with the Presidential Instruction of the Republic of Indonesia Number 6 of 2016 concerning the Acceleration of the Development of the Pharmaceutical and Medical Equipment Industry. In the context of realizing independence and increasing the competitiveness of domestic medical devices by accelerating the development of medical devices. So that the signing of the MoU from these three agencies can support government programs in developing domestic medical devices.
