Padang, 05 November 2024, Universitas Gadjah Mada (UGM) and Indonesia’s Ministry of Cooperatives and Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) collaborated to enhance Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) capacity in Central and South Sumatra through the 2024 Independent Micro Business Mentorship Program.
Launched in April 2024, the program attracted 2,578 MSMEs from various sectors. Twenty-five selected MSMEs participated in a two-day mentorship in Padang (November 5-6, 2024), receiving intensive training on business development strategies, marketing, and financing. Field visits to Christine Hakim’s Production Kitchen and Silungkang Art Centre fostered creativity and innovation.
The Ministry and UGM partnered with 20 strategic partners to provide financial and marketing support to MSMEs. This initiative demonstrates UGM’s commitment to empowering MSMEs and contributing to Indonesia’s economic growth.
Dr. Endrizal, Head of West Sumatra’s Cooperatives and SMEs Department, emphasized the importance of synergy between academia, government, and industry in building local economic resilience. This collaboration aims to enhance MSME competitiveness globally.
The program provides a solid foundation for Indonesian MSMEs to grow, develop, and contribute significantly to the national economy. For more information, visit the program’s official website.
