
On 17-18 May 2025, Meet The Investors #2 held at GIK UGM became a place for startups to present their ideas and products to investors. Meet The Investors #2 is a collaboration between Universitas Gadjah Mada (UGM) and Asosiasi Pengusaha Kreatif Jaya (APKJ), which aims to bring together startups with potential investors to support their business development. More than 30 investors from 6 countries participated and met with 170 startups that attended this event.
Two startups that managed to attract attention were Fumalife and Angkut Ternak, two startups assisted by Innovative Academy UGM. Both made it into the top 5 in the speed dating held at the event. Fumalife, a startup that focuses on developing electrospinning technology for various applications, is led by CEO Hanif Khoirudin. Fumalife’s main product is nanofibre that can be used in various fields, such as health, beauty, and industry. With advanced technology and a solid team, Fumalife managed to convince investors of the great potential they have.
‘The Meet The Investor #2 event brought together major Investors and Venture Capital from several countries, which is very good for supporting the startup ecosystem to grow. In addition, the event brought together industry players, MSMEs and Startups which fostered healthy discussions for business sustainability in our country in particular, and also globally.’ said Hanif. ‘The main thing that is very interesting for us is that we are given the space to be able to share and seek knowledge from experts to develop not only about business, but build mindset, goals/goals, to new ideas.’ he added. ‘Hopefully similar events can be held frequently to foster a healthy business climate and strong collaboration.’
Meanwhile, Angkut Ternak, a startup engaged in agriculture and animal husbandry, is led by CEO Agus Imam Syahputra. Angkut Ternak’s main product is a livestock management system integrated with information and communication technology, which can help farmers increase efficiency and productivity in the agriculture and livestock sector. With its innovative approach and experienced team, Angkut Ternak shows great potential to become a major player in the agriculture and livestock industry.
‘The Meet The Investor #2 event is not only a meeting place between startups and investors, but also reflects the strategic synergy between the academic world (UGM) and business associations (APKJ) in building a sustainable innovation ecosystem.’ Agus Imam Syahputra said, ‘This event successfully highlighted the potential of Indonesian startups based on local technology and solutions, such as Fumalife with multipurpose nanofibres and Angkut Ternak that integrates Information and Communication Technology in the livestock sector.’ He further added, ‘With a dynamic speed dating format, startups get the opportunity to validate business ideas first-hand, while investors can identify highly competitive projects. This kind of event accelerates the transformation of ideas into real solutions, while strengthening the foundation of Indonesia’s creative economy through multidisciplinary collaboration. With this event, startups have the opportunity to present their ideas and products directly to investors, thus increasing their chances of getting funding and support. Meet The Investors #2 is proof that the startup ecosystem in Indonesia is growing and has great potential to grow and develop.
The two startups that made it into the top 5, Fumalife and Angkut Ternak, are expected to continue to grow their businesses and achieve success in the future. With the support of investors and a growing startup ecosystem, it is hoped that these two startups can become examples for other startups to continue to innovate and develop their businesses.
