
On 27 May 2025, Dr. Fauzan Adziman, S.T., M.Eng., Director General of Research and Development (Dirjen Risbang) at the Ministry of Higher Education, Science, and Technology (Kemendiktisaintek), visited the Science Techno Park (STP) at Gadjah Mada University (UGM). Dr. Fauzan’s visit to UGM is part of Kemendiktisaintek’s efforts to review the innovation facilities and resources managed by STP UGM, as well as to directly hear presentations on the progress of innovation commercialisation at UGM from STP UGM managers and the Innovation Project Management Office.
The Director General of Research and Development’s visit to UGM’s Science Techno Park is part of the agenda for the launch of UGM as Indonesia’s Deeptech Innovation Hub in collaboration with the Massachusetts Institute of Technology – Regional Entrepreneurship Acceleration Program, further solidifying UGM’s readiness as one of the state universities receiving funding support from the PRIMESTEP (Promoting Research and Innovation through Modern and Efficient Science and Technology Parks Project) to support the government’s efforts in strengthening the national innovation ecosystem. PRIMESTEP is a project supported by the Asian Development Bank and aims to enhance research and innovation capabilities in Indonesia, focusing on improving research facilities, developing innovation systems, and strengthening STP institutional frameworks.
The Director General of Research and Development was received by the STP UGM team led by Dr. Hargo Utomo, accompanied by Prof. Sang Kompiang Wirawan, Head of the Intellectual Property Management Office (IPMO). The delegation also had the opportunity to visit the health equipment production facilities and the Wolbachia insectarium located within the STP UGM premises.
Dr. Fauzan Adziman emphasised the importance of research aimed at addressing national issues and expressed appreciation to UGM for its ongoing contributions of innovative products with significant potential to benefit both Indonesian and international communities through the existence of STP UGM. On this occasion, it was also stated that the government will continue to support innovation and research development in Indonesia. He hopes that the collaboration between the Ministry of Higher Education, Science, and Technology and UGM can serve as a model for other collaborations in developing innovations and translating research outcomes into beneficial and impactful products.
