Makassar, 10th October 2024 – Universitas Gadjah Mada (UGM) supports Indonesian Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) through collaboration with the Ministry of Cooperatives and SMEs. The Mikro Mandiri 2024 program enhances competitiveness, strengthens networks, and accelerates MSME growth.
Since April 2024, 2,578 MSMEs from various sectors (culinary, fashion, creative economy, home decor, agriculture, plantation, fisheries, tourism) participated. The offline mentorship in Makassar involved 400 national participants, including 25 from Eastern Indonesia, particularly South Sulawesi.
Intensive training covered business development strategies, marketing, and financing. Participants presented their businesses to stakeholders, accessing partnerships, market networks, and financial support.
Dr. H. Ashari Fakhsirie Radjamilo, South Sulawesi’s Cooperatives and SMEs Department Head, appreciated the initiative. He emphasized digitalization’s importance for MSMEs.
“Previously, we used traditional systems; now we must adapt to digitalization. MSMEs must innovatively face global challenges,” he said.
Asharie hopes this event will revive South Sulawesi MSMEs’ spirit, enabling growth amidst digitalization.
The Mikro Mandiri 2024 program demonstrates UGM’s commitment to MSME empowerment.
UGM and the Ministry envision establishing a solid foundation for Indonesian MSMEs to advance and contribute significantly to the national economy.
