Pontianak, 29th October 2024 – Universitas Gadjah Mada (UGM) is committed to empowering Indonesia’s Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) through collaboration with the Ministry of Cooperatives and SMEs. The 2024 Independent Micro Business Mentorship Program aims to enhance competitiveness, strengthen business networks, and accelerate MSME growth across sectors.
Since its launch in April 2024, 2,578 MSMEs from various sectors (culinary, fashion, creative economy, home decor, agriculture, plantation, fisheries, and tourism) have participated. Twenty outstanding MSMEs from Pontianak and surrounding areas attended the two-day offline mentorship program (October 29-30, 2024) at Hotel Ibis Pontianak City Center.
The program focused on three key aspects: business growth, financing access, and marketing access. The opening ceremony was led by Drs. Junaidi M.M., Head of West Kalimantan’s Cooperatives and SMEs Department, emphasizing support for MSMEs amidst digitalization challenges.
This initiative, jointly organized by UGM and the Ministry, enhances MSME owners’ understanding of business planning, marketing, and financing. The Micro Mandiri Program aims to foster MSME growth, development, and contribution to Indonesia’s economy.
Twelve partners provided financing and marketing access to 20 selected MSMEs during the mentorship session. This program demonstrates UGM’s commitment to MSME empowerment, aligning with its mission to contribute to societal and economic progress.
Through this collaboration, UGM and the Ministry envision establishing a solid foundation for Indonesian MSMEs to advance, grow, and compete globally. For more information, visit the program’s website.
