Gama Rain Filter and Gama-Kids: Implementation in Pemalang Regency

Gama Rain Filter

In Pemalang Regency, there are 6 areas which are special locations or stunting loci. These areas include Mendelem Village, Belik District, Mandiraja Village, Moga District, Kalirandu Village, Petarukan District, Batursari Village, Pulosari District, Tundagan Village, Watukumpul District, and Peguyangan Village, Bantarbolang District. These six stunting loci areas were designated by the Pemalang Regency Bappeda as areas experiencing the highest stunting cases. The high number of stunting cases is triggered by extreme poverty. These sub-districts experience extreme poverty due to the lack of economic potential in the area. The community accesses water as the main source of life through buying and selling transactions. Society cannot explore it from nature freely. This extreme poverty situation has resulted in residents only being able to access basic needs on a limited basis. Generally, people cannot buy nutritional food needs that are high in protein to anticipate stunting for young women, expectant mothers, pregnant women and babies. This relates to these extreme economic conditions.
Serah Terima Gama Rain dan Gama-Kids
The receiving area for Gama Rain Filter technology is Dusun Gondang. The area was designated by the Pemalang Regency Bappeda as an area with a fairly high level of water crisis. The difficulty of residents’ access to water has resulted in their daily expenses being used up for the purchase of water at a cost of Rp. 70,000-Rp. 80,000. Currently, residents are harvesting rainwater simply using pipes and reservoirs without using a filter. This causes the community to need to process water further and the level of water hygiene is still low. The existence of the Gama Rain Filter with this superior technology can overcome the problem of limited clean water ready for consumption. Easy and inexpensive filter maintenance allows residents to minimize expenses. That way, residents can access high protein and diverse food needs to support the reduction of stunting rates.

The handover of Gama Rain and Gama-Kids products was held on December 7, 2021. The event took place in the Belik District Hall, Pemalang Regency, Central Java. Handover by the Directorate of Business Development and Incubation through the funding of the Innovation Implementation Grant for the National Innovation Research Agency. At the event, each party also gave their remarks, including representatives from Bappeda, representatives from Becik District, and the PUI Directorate. The socialization of Gama Rain Filter and Gama-Kids was also a series of activities at the product handover event. Next is the implementation of Gama Rain Filter and Gama-Kids activities in each of these areas.
