Dit. PUI UGM Visitation to PT. Roma Export

In order to enhance partnerships with industry, the Directorate of Business Development and Incubation hold a visit to the PT. Roma Export located in South Ringroad No. 27 Yogyakarta on February 25, 2014.

Roma Export is one of Wood Plastic Composite (WPC manufacturers in Indonesia with brand Destination Green. Wood plastic composite Destination Green uses 90% of waste materials, that is 60% recycled teak wood flour and 30% recycled plastic. Teak wood flour obtained from waste from furniture factories and sawmills in Yogyakarta and surrounding areas.

Rome export sales WPC in Jakarta, Bali, Surabaya, Bandung, Semarang, Makassar and all regions in Indonesia even had succeeded exporting to the developed countries of Europe and America. Some products are sold, among others outdoor decking, frames, tiles and furniture WPC. Products are sold can be used as an alternative to natural wood with a cheaper price. WPC products can be used as the floor of the pool, the terrace floor offices or homes, bridges, fences, wall cladding and so on.

In this visit Dit. Pui together composite UGM team would like to see the constraints faced by PT. Export Roma both in terms of raw material procurement, production, marketing and human resources.

One of the obstacles faced by PT. Roma Export is the provision of a plastic material that had to be brought from outside Yogyakarta and the price is still high that affect the finished product becomes relatively expensive.

From this visit is expected to last collaboration between researchers UGM and PT. Export Roma in order to improve the quality of the final product.

Gadjah Mada University, through its Innovative Academy, is collaborating with Garuda Spark Innovation Hub under the auspices of the Ministry of Communication and Digital Affairs (Komdigi) and with the support of the Ministry of Education, Culture, Research, and Technology (Kemendikbud) and the Asian Development Bank (ADB) through the Promoting Research and Innovation through Modern and Efficient Science and Technology Parks Project (PRIME SteP), is organizing the Yogyakarta Startup Ecosystem Workshop 2025 on Wednesday, October 15, 2025, at two locations, namely the UGM Student Innovation and Creativity Center (GIK) and the UGM Entrepreneur Development Service (EDS).

This activity is a concrete effort by UGM to strengthen the startup ecosystem in the Special Region of Yogyakarta, which is known as a center for education, research, and creativity in Indonesia.
