Yogyakarta, 15th November 2024 – Universitas Gadjah Mada (UGM) reaffirms its role in supporting entrepreneurship development from upstream to downstream. In strategic synergy with Indonesia’s Ministry of Cooperatives and SMEs, UGM commits to succeeding the Mikro Mandiri 2024 Business Mentorship Program.
This program aims to accelerate MSME growth across sectors, enhancing competitiveness in domestic and international markets. The initiative, launched by the Ministry and UGM’s Directorate of Business Development, involves hundreds of industry partners and MSMEs.
Prof. Ir. Sang Kompiang Wirawan, UGM’s Program Vice Chairman, stated, “This collaboration demonstrates UGM’s support for the government’s agenda, particularly Yogyakarta’s provincial government, to empower micro-businesses through innovation and independence.”
“UGM and the Ministry commit to helping micro-businesses overcome challenges like limited financing access, low entrepreneurial understanding, and minimal innovation. We hope Indonesian MSMEs will gain stronger competitiveness,” Prof. Sang Kompiang added.
The program has attracted over 2,500 MSMEs nationwide, with 400 top participants receiving direct mentorship in 10 major cities. Additionally, 126 marketing and financing partners support MSME growth.
Deputy for Micro Business, Dr. Yulius MA, appreciated UGM’s collaboration. “This initiative addresses MSME limitations, including business legitimacy and product innovation. With UGM’s support and 126 partners, we’re optimistic about the program’s significant positive impact.”
Through strong collaboration, UGM actively supports the Ministry’s vision and mission to advance MSMEs, contributing to Indonesia’s economic growth.
