Gadjah Mada University is always committed to playing a role as a university capable of producing innovations that have the potential to be generated and utilized by industry and society in order to increase domestic economic strength and build national independence.
The Innovative Academy is one of the innovation programs managed by the Directorate of Business Development and Incubation in collaboration with industrial partners. In the Innovative Academy program, in addition to facilitating innovators and inventors (lecturers, researchers and students), this program also equips students to be able to create and innovate based on digital and non-digital technology, and encourage them to produce innovative works that are developed for spin- off to be a startup company that is able to stand on its own.
The Innovative Academy curriculum was developed with a semi-structured approach which is intended to equip participants with content about entrepreneurship and strengthening technological capacity to help solve various problems in society and industry by applying technology as an enabler so that it is expected to have a massive positive impact.
The uniqueness of the Innovative Academy activities is that it involves participants from various multi-disciplinary fields into one group of productive activities that have an impact on increasing solutions to solve social problems. Participants are selected, guided and directed to develop a new culture in managing digital and non-digital technology-based startup businesses. Furthermore, participants were introduced to ‘actors’ in the startup business development ecosystem, such as venture capital, private investors, and other accelerator activity units.
During that time, the Innovative Academy activities releses a number of prospective business pioneers (founders and co-founders) who are now entering an accelerated stage to be introduced to startup investors and business developers.
Several teams have received public appreciation both at the national and international levels. In the future, the development of Innovative Academy activities is expected to involve more industry players, potential investors, accelerators, and mentors or mentors to improve the quality of the process so that new innovations will emerge with a better level of mastery of technology and a greater impact on society.
